Effective date: June 5, 2026
At LightLog, your privacy comes first. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in the iOS app and website. We are committed to keeping data secure, transparent, and under your control. We do not perform unnecessary tracking or data collection beyond what is required for core app functionality.
LightLog iOS App
LightLog does not proactively collect, store, or share personally identifiable information. Shooting records, gear details, film details, notes, and related metadata entered in the app are stored locally on your device by default and are not uploaded to LightLog servers.
The current version of LightLog does not include third-party analytics SDKs, behavioral tracking SDKs, or ad SDKs. Unless you explicitly use system features that require networking (for example, App Store-related system flows), no personally identifiable data is provided to the developer.
In-App Purchases: If available, in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed through Apple’s StoreKit and App Store infrastructure. Transaction, billing, and account information are handled by Apple. The developer does not directly access your payment details or Apple account credentials.
When exporting data, the app exports photos with EXIF metadata into your system Photos library. Any sending, backup, or sync actions you perform through the system share sheet are fully under your control. The developer does not access or track exported content.
To support shooting log features, LightLog may request the following permissions:
- Camera: To capture photos directly in the app or record shooting references.
- Photos: To select images from your photo library and write metadata-enriched exported copies.
- Location (While Using the App): To save GPS coordinates when recording entries (only when you grant permission and enable the related feature).
You can revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. After revocation, related features may be limited, but core logging capabilities remain available.
Information Handling Overview (Scope / Method / Purpose / Storage)
To make LightLog’s data boundaries easy to understand, we summarize them in four dimensions:
1) Scope of Information
During your use of LightLog, the app only handles information necessary to provide features, mainly including:
- Shooting records, gear details, film details, notes, and related metadata you actively enter.
- Permission-based data made available by iOS after your authorization (such as Camera, Photos, and Location).
- Export outputs generated only when you explicitly trigger export (for example, photos with EXIF metadata).
2) How Information Is Handled
LightLog primarily handles information through the following paths:
- You actively create, edit, or delete content in the app.
- After you grant permissions, iOS system frameworks provide required capabilities (such as capture, photo picking, and location).
- When you explicitly export/share, system flows write to Photos or open the system share sheet.
3) Purpose of Use
The above information is used only to:
- Deliver core features such as shooting logs, gear linkage, and optional location recording.
- Export metadata-enriched photos when requested for archiving or sharing.
- Maintain baseline app usability and feature completeness.
4) Storage Location
- Data you create and maintain in the app is stored locally on your device by default.
- Exported content is stored in destinations you choose (such as Photos or share targets).
- LightLog does not operate developer servers for storing your shooting-record content.
Data Control and Your Choices
We follow a data-minimization principle. You have full control over content stored, exported, and shared from your local device. You can:
- Delete logs, photo links, and metadata records in the app.
- Manage Camera, Photos, and Location permissions in system settings.
- Review and choose exactly what to send before exporting or sharing.
lightlog.app Website
lightlog.app is LightLog’s official website. The site is primarily static and does not use analytics for advertising profiling or personalized advertising.
The website does not proactively ask you to submit personal information. If pages include outbound links (such as social media, app stores, or third-party sites), visiting them is your choice and those destinations are governed by their own privacy policies.
To understand overall site usage and improve the website, lightlog.app uses Umami Cloud Analytics. Umami is configured as a privacy-focused analytics service and does not use cookies in its tracking code. The analytics information we review is aggregate usage data such as page views, referrer URLs, browser, operating system, device type, and country of origin. It is used only to understand traffic patterns, maintain the site, and improve content; it is not used to identify individuals, track users across websites, or deliver personalized advertising.
The hosting/network layer may provide necessary anonymous access logs (for example, request time, status code, anonymized IP fragments, and device-type statistics) solely to maintain site security, stability, and performance. This information is not used to identify individuals or for personalized advertising.
Third-Party Services
LightLog relies on Apple system frameworks and platform capabilities (such as StoreKit, Photos, and Core Location) for certain app functions. Data handling in those services is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and terms.
The website uses Umami Cloud Analytics, provided by Umami Software, Inc., for privacy-focused aggregate website analytics as described above. Data handling by Umami is governed by Umami’s privacy policy and service terms.
If new third-party services are introduced in the future, LightLog will clearly disclose their purpose and data boundaries in app updates or this policy.
Children’s Privacy
LightLog is not designed to collect personal information and does not intentionally collect personal data from children. If a parent or guardian has concerns about improper data handling involving a minor, please contact us using the email below.
Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy based on product changes, legal/regulatory requirements, or operational needs. Updated versions will be published on this page and the effective date will be updated accordingly. For material changes, we will provide notice through appropriate channels such as website announcements or in-app notices.
